Introduction

Physical fitness is an empowering attribute and a key element of a healthy life. With this vision, the Department of Physical Education and Sports was established in 1994. The department promotes mass participation in sports and organizes structured training and coaching programs to help students remain physically fit and competitive.

Students participate at Inter-College, State, National, North Zone/All India University, and International levels, securing notable positions and bringing laurels to the college.

Career Pathways

Students excelling in sports can pursue B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees, leading to careers in schools, colleges, fitness centres, and sports organizations. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) also provides opportunities to study at N.S.N.I.S. and become qualified coaches.

Sports Society Events

The Sports Society organizes Invitational Inter-College Tournaments in Chess and Carom for specially-abled students and various games tournaments for women participants across H.P. University colleges, with participation of nearly 300 students. The event promotes healthy competition and true sportsmanship.


Workshops & Lectures

Regular workshops and lectures are organized to enhance students’ technical knowledge, performance skills, and understanding of sports science.


National Sports Day / Annual Athletic Meet

The department celebrates National Sports Day and organizes the Annual Athletic Meet to honor student achievements. Activities include march past, oath-taking ceremony, flag hosting, recreational races, aerobics and yoga demonstrations, and prize distribution. Awards are presented by eminent sportspersons, academicians, and sports administrators.
